What doe's Aromatic mean?
The word Aromatic means a pleasant smell.
When we inhale an aroma many clever things happen within our body. Our body recognises and responds to the odour molecules and it starts a process of signals and impulses to 5 different structures of our brain. These areas of the brain do roles for us including regulation of hormones, blood pressure as well as helping us to release emotional trauma and more.

Methods of Use
Aromatic use is often how a person first experiencing essential oils. Its a simple and effective way to enjoy the benefits.

HOW TO USE ESSENTIAL OILS: AROMATIC
Direct Inhalation
As the name suggest this means to inhale the essential oil directly, typically from the bottle. It is as simple as unscrewing the lid and bringing the bottle near your nose. It's fast and convenient to do and a great way to benefit in a timely manner.

- Who - Suitable for most people
Top Tip - When trying a new oil hold at a distance at first before bringing it closer. Some oils, especially the hot oils can be very potent and strong in aroma. One example is Origanum vulgare (Oregano) which is 70 times more powerful than the herb.

HOW TO USE ESSENTIAL OILS: AROMATIC
Diffusing
This is the most popular method to use essential oils aromatically. One of the best types available are ultrasonic diffusers. They work in a simple way with the cool mist suspending the tiny essential oil molecules in the air for an extended time to enjoy the benefits of the essential oil. The essential oil helps improve the quality of the air.

HOW TO USE ESSENTIAL OILS: AROMATIC
Burner
By applying heat through a candle to a warming plate with essential oils an aroma can be enjoying in the room. This is a method I personally choose not to use. With heat you create a chemical change within the essential oils and altering them. If your simply using a fragrance oil that's okay but for higher quality oils I choose not.

- Who - Suitable for most people
Top Tip - Consider diffusing as an alternative if using high quality Essential Oils.

HOW TO USE ESSENTIAL OILS: AROMATIC
Steam Inhalation
Another aromatic way that does apply heat that I do choose is steam inhalation – when you need help with the feeling of clear easy breathing when experiencing congestion. It is really great support to add.
KEY POINTS
- Difficultly level - Medium
- Great for – Fast clearing support
- Who - Adults without balance issues. This option does not suit everyone especially if they could knock over the hot water. Avoid for elderly and young children.
Top Tip - Have a box of tissues nearby

HOW TO USE ESSENTIAL OILS: AROMATIC
Passive Diffusing
This is where you use a material, add the oil and is disperses through the day. You can use many different materials the key quality is that is can absorb the oil. You could use a felt pad or even a tissue.

- Great for – Gentle aroma throughout your day
- Who - Most people
Top Tip - Add a drop of an energising essential oil onto a tissue and leave next to your desk, especially helpful in the afternoon.

HOW TO USE ESSENTIAL OILS: AROMATIC
Aromatherapy Jewellery
Jewellery is a lovely and decorative way to enjoy supportive aromas all day long. It is not only convenient but also a subtle method when out and about. Simply add your oil to the jewellery and let dry before wearing.
